I've been remiss in my blog-reading duties and here is my punishment. The fate of the beets has already been decided: they went into the salad in the next post.
Beet salad is a fine and worthy end for any beet -- a better end than many among the beet-kind could ever hope for -- and yet I can't help but feel somewhat downhearted that I didn't get to suggest a different use for the beets: war paint.
Use the beets to create a dark-red colored paint and apply in creative, somewhat threatening patterns on your face and any other exposed skin-areas that you feel might be effectively used to terrify your opponents in battle.
You'll be the envy of all the other hunter-gatherers in your neighborhood the next time there's a throw-down.
